As a teacher we tend to not like Gossip and we tell our kids to not spread rumors. Which is all and good, but as a teacher-author who depends on their online store to bring in supplemental income to help support their own child's education, I love news being spread about my store and products. I grew up before social media was born and it still taking me time to fully be comfortable with blogging and talented in social media beyond Facebook (instagram, snapchat, pinterest, etc).
But this month, I am greatful for the power of Social Media. I have been fortunate that other Teachers have been "talking" about some of my products in my online TpT store Activities To Teach. They have been talking about me so much that TpT pinned on of my science basic worksheet packets on practicing the Triple Beam Balance and this resulted in numerous visitors to my store. Then today, I woke to find my Murder Mystery STEM activity packet selected for their weekly newsletter. While I did submit my murder mystery for consideration, it still had to be selected from the 1000s of submissions and deamed of value. The activity also has a 4.0 rating and numerous customer statisfaction comments.
So as a veteran teacher-author who has been doing this for 12 years and use to exhaustingly pack-up her store to be mobile and visit state and region science conferences, I am grateful for social media and online abilities to reach around the world and directly into the homes of fellow teachers looking for support and creative ways to reach all their learners.
